授業概要・形態
Lecture Outline
and Class Format
The UK has left the EU. “Brexit” is causing many problems inside and outside the EU. Before we predict a future shape of Europe, however, we should consider what made British people move toward “Brexit.”

In this course, you will learn about the formation process of the EU and the significance of unremitting endeavors of EU member countries for their unification. You will also examine the cultures of EU countries and the current issues surrounding them. Presenting your research and discussing the issues in groups or in the class, you will come to understand how this utopian enterprise to create a unified European community is a noble but fragile attempt.

For each lesson students will be expected to read the textbook and prepare the summary notes prior to class, examine an appointed topic for homework to make a mini-presentation, listen attentively to a small lecture given by the instructor, actively participate in class activities, such as pair-work and group discussions, and make comments in class on the topics.

Class preparation will therefore include reading the textbook (one unit per lesson), writing the summary of the passage, and doing research related to the unit topic for mini-presentation.
